No tour of the Biltmore Estate would be complete without a stop at the most visited winery in America, Biltmore Wines. Long a dream of William A.V. Cecil, the modern winery completes George Washington Vanderbilt’s vision of creating a self-sustaining estate with vineyards and a winery in the tradition of France's Loire Valley.
Biltmore Wines grows several varieties of vinifera grapes on 94 acres at the estate and imports other grapes as needed. The former dairy complex now houses the Biltmore Winery, which produces tens of thousands of cases each year in many varieties. The Winery has been awarded gold and double-gold medals in prestigious national and international competitions
A self-guided tour through the Winery and a wine tasting experience is included in the Estate admission for all guests of legal drinking age. Wine experts are on hand to pour samples and discuss the merits of each varietal and vintage. Afterward, you can purchase bottles at discounted prices from the large, well-stocked gift shop. In addition, the Winery hosts special events, has an outdoor dining area and occasionally features live music.
The Winery and nearby Antler Hill Village are on the way to the exit after you’ve finished touring the Biltmore House. Stop on your way out and take in these added attractions. The Winery and Village present opportunities to relax and unwind after the lengthy stroll through the House.
