Oh Wow!! Came here to Willow Winds not knowing what to expect….and was really, really pleasantly surprised!!

Came up here to see the Biltmore Candlelight tour (we’d all seen it during the day ~ really different at night ~ Beautiful!!) and to relax.

We loved sitting on the deck listening ~ just listening…and at night building the fire then relaxing in the hot tub.

What a wonderful, well taken care of place ~ will be recommending it to all back in Raleigh ~ and oh yes We Will Be Back!!

From the first moment we stepped into Cora’s Pine it has been nothing but delightful. Our girls weekend has been full of laughter & porch sitting. We were surprised to se a blue heron on the property. As we explored the Willow Winds property we came across many beautiful fountains tucked here & there. Dinner at Corner Kitchen was awesome! Trust the staff’s recommendations. Especially the white chocolate bread pudding. Needless to say this is the first of many stays with the Wonderful Willow Winds cabins! Thanks so much!

The Manz’s, The Munsons, & The Woodruffs.

Vacation is when you have nothing to do and all day to do it.

Another year – another week- So many pleasures did we seek.

After enjoying a week of epicurean feasts all of our jeans plead for release ~ And the Food!!!

Luella’s BBQ ~ for exceptional Bar-B-Que!

Red Stag at Bohemian Hotel ~ for ambiance and food!

Pisgah Inn ~ Mountain views, rustic setting, and country cooking.

Bavarian ~ good food, good beer , good German atmosphere.

Chestnut ~ the new place in town at 48 Biltmore ~ it’s a Keeper!!!

The Moose Café ~ at the Farmers Market for home cooking that can’t be beat.

Games and DVD’s galore ~ Peggy and Jane exercising on the floor!

A roaring fire ~ crackling and bright with laughter and reminiscing every night. The hot tub helped each ache and pain. We almost felt like kids again!

The splendor and beauty of this special place ~ brings warmth to the heart and a smile to our face.

To Hell with the Mayans and their prediction of December twenty-one, We’re coming back again and again for much more fun!

We leave stress behind ~ relaxation we hold dear.

But something is very different this year ~

We usually all sit together reading good books ~

But this year everyone looked down at phones & nooks.

On Friday we drove to see Davis and Katy’s new Home.

Then high-tailed it over for lunch at 12 Bones.

Then we danced with the statues at the Arts & Crafts show,

John spied a wood vase and just couldn’t say no.

We’ve been dying for apples since we arrived,

So over to Hendersonville we decided to drive.

Visiting Granddad’s this year was quite a shock,

For now it has turned into a big commercial shop.

As usual we ate lunch at Mike’s on Main

Unfortunately the food just wasn’t the same

Next year we’ll be looking for someplace new

Where the food doesn’t taste like an old leather shoe.

Then we looked down Main St. and saw a big mob

We thought surely a politician was drawing the crowd,

We learned they were filming a reality show about getting a date,

We’re sure glad we already have our magnificent mates!

Then off to Dupont Forest we drove

To see High Falls on a leisurely stroll

We saw some poor doggies limping on rock

And got the idea to invent dog hiking socks!

Our week at Willow Winds is now over

Our laughing a feasting is done

But we look forward to October 2013

Next year promises even more fun!

Came to Willow Winds to escape the hectic city life and celebrate the hubby’s 30th birthday. We had a wonderful stay and wish we could have stayed longer! Hubby wants a rematch on the life sized chess board back behind the office building!

We hope this place never has an empty night and keeps the next tenants always warm by its fireside. Best Wishes!

On the back porch overlooking the pond & the trees beyond thinking how quiet & lovely Willow Winds is. I love the large fountain just below us. The plate of water ripples & bends with the wind much like that of a creation of blown glass while being spun. We first stopped in downtown Asheville, before coming here and walked around town. Lunch at the Laughing Seed was fun & dessert from the Chocolate Fetish on Haywood Street was perfect. Try the “Ancient Delight” it is perfect…chocolate dusted with cayenne pepper. We always get a kick out of the street musicians.

Oh! The MTC Trail up the hill is an even more tranquil moment. Our son, Jake fished for hours at the pond. At 14 it is fun for us to see him engage in and be thrilled with simple pleasures. Thanks Willow Winds!

We strongly suggest Rezaz Restaurant, the rib eye special was to fie for, pricey, but worth it. Barley’s is a good place for pizza and I suggest trying the mead.

"Little Piece of Heaven Nestled in the Foothills"

Not usually @ a loss for words but here's a few to capture the experience: immaculate, cozy, welcoming, imagine rustic log cabin with a view on to a small formal (English) garden and a nearby pond and fountain. Normally, photos tend to exaggerate a property's appeal, in this case they don't do it justice. The staff is extremely helpful & welcoming, yet you can withdraw into your cabin and feel as if you & your family are all alone in the mountains in the best sense of the word. Location also lends itself to feeling a sense of peaceful remoteness from the world, yet everything is in fact just a minutes away from everything worth doing in Asheville (the Biltmore, UNC Asheville, etc.). Will definitely be back.

We all loved it! The cabin was beautiful. The staff were wonderful and very attentive. They had recommendations, helped us map out our activities. They had a welcome basket. The location was beautiful. They had activities such as pop a shot, skee ball and more for the family. We will definitely return. It was one of the best experiences we've had. Great job asheville Cabins on Willow Winds. Highly recommended.

Asheville Cabins of Willow Winds:

Who can you trust with your hard-earned vacation savings?
My husband and I took a chance and hit the jackpot!
Cabins of Willow Winds exceeded our expectations!
Not only was the staff customer-sensitive, the cabin
was immaculate, well-appointed and a glorious welcome
mat to an even more glorious landscape.

All of Asheville is at your fingertips
but you'd never know it...spent our mornings
drinking coffee on the deck overlooking old
growth forest and contemplating our next
relaxing dunk in the hot tub.

Not folks easily impressed.
Suffice it to say, we could
have stayed forever.

We are here on our honeymoon and it’s the perfect way to wind down after a fun (but busy) wedding! We arrived last night around 11 pm ~ hoped to get here earlier, but our car broke down in Knoxville & we had to get it towed & rent a car. It was the same car he picked me up in our first ate over 5 years ago! After all the craziness we went through yesterday we really appreciated this relaxed setting! We enjoyed the hot tub & champagne last night and so far today we’ve played board games, gone for a run, played at the park & relaxed. We never want to leave!

Later....

We are definitely not ready to leave! We’ve had so much fun here. It rained yesterday evening so we stayed nice & cozy in the cabin! We enjoyed playing horseshoes & tetherball during the day. Here’s a tip ~ stock up on microwavable meals & stir-fry bags from Walmart ~ it’s cheap & it’s so cozy to eat here! Today we’re going running in the mountains. Can’t wait to come back here many, many more times ~ hopefully with children someday too!

The cabin was perfect for our family of 5; including well stocked kitchen equippment, hot tub and location (unbeliveable views!) We can't wait to return for our 3rd visit in the future!!

We came to Willow Winds for a weekend getaway with friends. We were so impressed by everything here – from the staff, to the grounds, to all the amenities.! Willow Winds paid attention to detail and it shows!

We spent a wonderful day at the Biltmore and had a great time here. We are already talking about coming back! Thank you!

Thais is our second trip to Willow Winds and just as nice as the first. So peaceful & relaxing – we could sit on the porch all day & just listen to the water! The highlight of our stay was watching a bear & three cubs wander to the garden & take a drink from the fountain – just amazing. Thank you for everything!

My Favorite thing I did was gem mining. I found a blue rock.

My Second Favorite thing was fishing even though we didn’t catch a fish.

My Third Favorite thing was seeing the squirrel.

We have been coming to Willow Winds for the past 7 years. We absolutely love Asheville and everything it offers. We did a lot of hiking in the backcountry of Grandfather Mountain and then hiked Pisgah National Forest. We also ate at a terrific German restaurant not far from here called Black Forest—it was so good….We went whitewater rafting in the Nolichucky River—amazing, Zip lined at Navitat---great staff. And Asheville we will see you next year.

Husband and I had a wonderful time at Sophia’s Sapphire. The cabin was comfortable and cozy! Enjoyed all the amenities that were provided. Did not have a chance to visit restaurants but in all we still had a home cooked meal. Will love to come back and invite some of my friends to this peaceful relaxing atmosphere!!

Sophia’s Sapphire was Awesome! Everyone was really nice and we definitely used the fireplace. It was an awesome getaway and very serene. We enjoyed playing chess and ping pong.

We ate at “Neo’s” very eclectic southern Mexican. Enjoyed beers at the “LAB”. Biltmore House Rocked!! We’re here for our honeymoon and got our wedding album at the “Baggy Goose” in Biltmore Village. If you’re looking for Antiques check out “Screen Door”.

Wonderful visit to Willow Winds. We absolutely loved everything about the cabin and cannot think of one thing to improve this fantastic place. We wish the weather had been a bit warmer to have enjoyed the porch more but you can’t control that.

  1. Navitat Zip Lining – Expensive but you get your money’s worth on this 3 & ½ hour trip. Great guides, great zips, great fun!
  2. Moe’s Original BBQ – Laid back atmosphere & great BBQ!
  3. Pappa’s & Beer – GREAT Mexican Food. We loved it so much we went twice!
  4. Corner Kitchen – Fantastic upscale dining in casual environment. Great Service!
  5. Exploring downtown Asheville. Lots of great restaurants, shops, & galleries. (much cheaper than Biltmore Village) Also great for grabbing a beer at a sidewalk restaurant and people watching.

All in all a great stay at Willow Winds. We will be back!!

In spite of rain on all three days we have enjoyed our stay at Sophia’s. On Tuesday our Navitat zipline tour was cancelled due to rain. We ate dinner at Corner Kitchen. Nice place and close. Wednesday we tried the Biltmore House. The audio tour really helped us appreciate what we were seeing. Loved the winery tour and the blacksmith demonstration at Antler Village. We ate outside at Asheville Pizza & Brewery that evening. Today we went back to Navitat at 9 and we were able to complete our zip tour before it started raining. We highly recommend the Navitat Tour. On the way home we stopped at the Stoney Knob Café in Weaverville. Very unique and we loved our lunch. We picked up a movie at the office on our way back to our cabin. We enjoyed the rest of the day watching tv, reading and napping with a fire in the fireplace. It continued to pour rain so we didn’t even venture out for dinner. This has been a very relaxing retreat from work. We want to come back and do more hiking.

If you go left when it forks, it is a lot better; We ate at Frankie Bones and would highly recommend it! The Highland Brewery has a tour that is free and a lot of fun if you are into beer! Mon – Sat, get there a little before 4pm. Great place for lunch & dinner is Brixx Pizza!

We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did! See you next year Sophia!

Splendid Find!
Wow !! I hate to say how much I liked this property because it may be tough to get a booking next time. Awesome experience, these cottages are tucked away in a woodsy setting with beautiful landscaping, water and pond placement and so convenient, we were 5 minutes from great eateries, Biltmore, shopping and groceries. Linda checked us in upon arrival, she did a masterful job of explaining the amenities of the cottages, where to eat, where to shop for groceries, local attractions, etc. Everything was turn key, we stayed at Tracy's Twin, my wife said that the beds were the most comfortable that she has ever slept in. Spot on with this place, beats the hotel scene by a huge margin !

Having the Best of All Worlds!

Our recent stay here exceeded all our expectations!!! Everything about our stay at Willow Winds contributed to the overall comfort, ease, and pleasure of our recent vacation. The cabin we rented (Chris' Cabin) offered a rustic setting with modern comforts. The cabin was well equipped and we did not want for anything. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and upon entering our cabin found a welcome basket of "goodies", lots of print information about the cabins and the area. Office staff were available, helpful and a great resource for information on area restaurants, hiking, markets, etc. The overall environment was rustic but well landscaped with beautiful fountains, a lovely pond for fishing and wooded places to walk. All this within 5 miles of Asheville where there is an abundance of excellent food, local craftspeople, art and music. Who could ask for a better place to stay??!! We can't wait to return.

I meant to write you today to tell you that we are home safe and sound after a stop-over with our third son and his wife at Hilton Head Island.

Son Peter insists that this was our tenth year at WW which should tell you how much we like you.  Every year we see the many new additions.  This year it was the roof over the first floor deck which we liked very much.  Then the perfectly beautiful waterfall and garden at the end of Trout Lane.  John Michael can be very proud of it.  You also fill in the shrubbery with additional plants knowing that it will prevent erosion.

We had a grand time this year.  We saw our many friends in the area.  It's as if we haven't been gone and are just picking up where we left off.  The birding was as good as last year.  The Pileated Woodpecker pair showed up our last day and we even had a goodbye from the Red shouldered Hawk.

The birding doesn't really change and neither does the service and hospitality.  We are grateful to you for always making us feel welcome.  We have wonderful memories and call on them occasionally when we need a boost.

Love to each and all of you,

Jan and Tom

My boyfriend and I decided to spend the weekend here celebrating our 6th month anniversary. As soon as we walked thru the door we were amazed at how beautiful our “Home away from Home” was! Everything we could possibly need was right at our fingertips! It is so peaceful here. Beautiful scenery! We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub! The staff is awesome!

Wile here we drove the Blue Ridge Parkway, where we saw some wonderful scenery, a great panoramic view of the mountains that led to some great pictures. Warning: Have plenty of gas before going. We also visited the wildlife center and it was great! Pleases to eat: Cornerstone Restaurant on Tunnel Road. (Best ribs ever) and Ruth’s Chris in Biltmore Village. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will return. (Hopefully as Mr. and Mrs. Roberts).

As native North Carolinians, we have travelled many times to Asheville. For years we have stayed in a variety of well-known hotels, inns and B&Bs. But never have we found a more perfect essence of the mountains' beauty than at the Cabins at Willow Winds. Secluded and surrounded by gardens, fountains, groves of trees and distant mountain views through the branches, our rustic yet completely modern cabin was the perfect haven. A Five Star Woodland Vacation!

This is an excellent hidewaway nestled in the hillside comprised of individual cabins (actually small homes) surrounding a pond, beautiful greenery, and many water fountains. Two couples stayed in Dad's Digs, which had 2 bedrooms (a queen and a king bed), a hot tub, great deck with electric grill, and all the amenities of home (flat screen tv, digital dvd player, ipod player, spa bathrobes, etc). The furnishings and decor were as nice if not nicer than many of my friends' homes! We only stayed for 2 nights, but we still took advantage of their large selection of dvd movies and library (books), and they had numerous things for kids to play with (basketball hoop, etc).
We were in asheville to see the Biltmore House, and it was less than 10 minutes away. The office had a notebook with menus from local restaurants and even offered coupons for a 10% discount for many of them. This is a family owned property, and it was a pure pleasure to deal with the owner & office personnel. We'd love to return one day.

As I mentioned last week, you are more than welcome to use these on your website, or anywhere you want,... they are yours to keep,.. no strings attached, no bill will be sent, and no favors asked the next time we come up!!

Again, thanks for everything, and giving my kids a lifelong memory!!  Willow Winds is the BEST!!

LIKE GOING HOME!

This was our 6th year staying at Willow Winds and every time I drive thru the gate I feel like I have come home! The peace and quiet is just what the doctor ordered. You have your own secluded place to do what you want when you want and no one bothers you. The staff are like family! Larry's is the cream of the crop there. It is at the end of the lane and not very many steps to climb. Just step from your car to the door. The thing I look forward to is a trip to the hot tub! I took advantage of the staff buying my supplies and having them in the cabin when I arrived. It’s the only way to go on vacation! This place is the ONLY place in Asheville you should stay if peace and quiet is on the agenda!

Seclusion in the city.  Our second visit was even better than the first. It is just like staying at grandma's house sparkling clean of course but the little touches are perfect, done by someone who loves to have you come for a visit.

The exercise room was very well equipped. Consider turning down the heat to about 65-67 as working out builds up personal heat so "comfy" isn't necessary.

John & Muriel (Scotland)

We stayed for 9 nights in Kathy's Kabin. The accommodation was very spacious for two and had all the facilities we required. It was unseasonably hot so we only used the fireplace once and barely depleted the stack of wood left for us by the front door.

There is a sense of tranquility here and the individual cabins seem to be well separated and screened from each other. Sitting on our deck you could reasonable convince yourself that you were alone in the forest most of the time.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and accommodated every small request we made and dealt with all our questions. Supermarkets are 5 minutes away and downtown asheville itself little more than 10.

We didn't use many of the facilities on site although could probably have become addicted to the Bocca ball, given time. There is an excellent range of film dvds available if you are having an evening in.

In terms of things not to miss we would say the Blue Ridge Parkway - we explored both north and south of asheville and the views are unforgettable - and Biltmore Estate, which we had the fortune to visit during the 'azalea season'.

The owners at Asheville Cabins of Willow Winds think of all the little details that make your getaway very relaxing and stress-free. The surroundings of the cabin are peaceful and well maintained.

The grounds are lovely--flowering shrubs, a fish pond, fountains and a connection to the Blue Ridge Trail. Each cabin has a hot tub. The kitchen is well equipped and there's also a washer and dryer. Although the cabins are fairly close together, there's definitely a feeling of privacy and it's quiet. The office has a good video library and the people who work there are very friendly and helpful. It's convenient to asheville, the NC aboretum, the Craft Center and Biltmore Estates. This is our fifth year going to Willow Winds and we highly recommend it!

Wow! I fell in love with Willow Winds; it was "love at first sight!"  We were welcomed to a community of 25 cabins, all luxuriously but rustically accommodated. We walked into our cabin, Michael's Hideaway; it looked just like the representation on the website. It was a total sensational retreat! A sight for sore eyes. My teenage daughter loves it every time we come back. Everything a person could need or want was provided at the cabin. Amenities included free DVD's, hot tubs at every cabin, decks with electric grills, outside recreation, Internet access in every cabin, and a totally cool can of rich butter cookies as a welcoming gift. Groceries will even be provided for your cabin at your request.

Staying at Willow Winds offers the best of both worlds: a peaceful, soulful retreat back to nature and/or a 5 minute trip to downtown Asheville where the action is. With the gorgeous mountains as a backdrop, wooded areas, streams, and woodland flowers, this place is second to none in terms of the reclusiveness and reconnection with nature it offers. On the other hand, if one is in the mood for enjoying the arts, music, restaurants, and Bohemian culture, then a short trip to downtown Asheville is the place to be.

Since our first stay, we come back to Willow Winds on a regular basis throughout the year. We try to come during different seasons to enjoy the beauty and the changing of each season. Staying here is a wonderful way to destress from the normal comings and goings each day. It is perfect for families, couples wanting a romantic break, and even coming alone - which can be a good thing. You are right in Asheville within city limits, but yet it seems so far away.

Staying at Willow Winds of Asheville comes with my highest recommendations!

We had a memorable family vacation at Willow Winds!! Found you on the well done website and we were pleased with all of the extra amenities that Willow Winds provided ~ from delicious “Welcome Cookies” to flashlights for evening walks in your beautiful woodland gardens….Thank you to the office crew for your warm hospitality to parents and children alike. I found Willow Winds on the internet and fell in love with it through the pictures. The reality is even better!

This is our first visit to Willow Winds and Asheville and I can’t imagine one without the other. We came with our two kids ~ ages 11 mo. & 3 & ½ and one of the best parts of staying here was how much there was for them to do onsite! It meant we could relax and not feel like we had to provide something to do all the time. I am sad to leave but so happy to have found this place. We all look forward to our next trip.

Wow! I selected the best place to bring my friends from the Netherlands to visit!

We found that we had a home away from home. Even a newspaper! So much to do in so little time. I will be back.

Thank you for helping me to make a great memory. We all loved relaxing in the hot tub. Huge hit of luxury and comfort!

Willow Winds has been the perfect place to bring our family to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It’s our first time here. There’s something for every age!  Our grandchildren and grown ups loved bocce, water balloons, and the other games.

With two cabins side by side everyone had lots of room. What a relaxing and beautiful setting!

Awesome! Stay here while visiting the Biltmore Estate.

When we first arrived, we parked and went into the front office. We were greeted by a kind lady that gave us all kinds of great info. She gave us our key and we went onto our cabin at the top of the hill (Toms Trophy). They have discount grocery tags on the key rings, which I thought was awesome.

We got to our cabin and open the front door and the pictures on the website don't do this place justice. This was the cleanest establishment I have ever stayed at. They had wood on the front porch for the fireplace, electric grill on the back porch and the Hot Tub was hot and ready for action.

The bed rooms are located downstairs, along with the hot tub. The beds were very comfortable. They even had i-phone docking stations upstairs and downstairs, Plasma TV upstairs in the den with cable. I was really surprised with all the electronic items in the cabin. Thumbs Up Willow Winds.

We Thank you for relaxing and peaceful stay!

Thanks! Our son and his new wife love Willow Winds, and so do my husband and I. We have always needed a nice cabin to stay in and enjoy Asheville, so it is a great break from our work routine in Cary. Maybe the kids will keep this up long after we are gone!

We always notice how nicely yall keep up the place....everything we need is there, and the firewood on the porch is wonderful! it was the first fireplace for our new daughter in law from China, and she adored it, too. We don't have one at home.

We ate in the Library at the Biltmore Inn, Cucina 24, and Doc Chey's again and loved all three; others should like those places, too. We bought annual passes to the Biltmore for the four of us after our first visit last May, and are thrilled that we could use them twice more this year.

We visited the Rivers Arts District twice and had a lot of fun browsing the galleries.

Can't wait til our next visit sometime this summer. Holler if you need anything in the Raleigh area, Gray and Gerhard

My small family in recent years has made a tradition of going away for Thanksgiving. Disney, Outer Banks, and now Asheville.

This is the most wonderful place to stay. The cabin is huge and has everything you need to spend a few relaxing days. The fireplace was the extra touch.
We explored downtown, went on a food tour, went to the Biltmore one evening, and had Thanksgiving at Deerpark. Last night we went on the Polar Express. What a fantastic time.

This is definitely a destination that we would return to. Any season would be fine.
Thanks for a Wonderful Vacation.

I brought my husband here on a surprise weekend getaway. I googled "best cabin resort in Asheville" and found Willow Winds. Reviews were astounding so I had to check it out myself.
Our stay was more than I could have wanted it to be! My husband and I had never vacationed in a cabin before now but I have the feeling this will not be our last stay with you guys. The cabin was perfect, the restaurants divine and seeing B.B. King at the Civic Center made this experience "epic" as my husband would say!!
Thank you for everything, but especially helping me surprise my hubby in a special way.

Happy New Year!!!

Great accommodations, great cabin and excellent hospitality. We felt like it truly was a “Home away from Home”. Nice touches with linens, wood for fireplace, etc.

Talk about providing guests with A to Z! With laundry detergent, fabric softener, to tissues, extra towels, and DVD’s for entertainment.

High speed internet and the King size bed was large enough for my wife, myself, and our 2 yr. old son…..We will definitely be back next year again in December. Pat, Linda, Mary & Sandy all are excellent women.

What a beautiful day! My husband and I spent 2 nights at Kathy’s Kabin – BEAUTIFUL and VERY private! We needed to stay one more night to visit with my husband’s brother and his family who live nearby and were very fortunate that Mom’s Cabins had a vacancy. Sooooo, we switched cabins and when we walked thru the door, Moms was Just as Breathtaking as Kathy’s!

The beautiful beams on the ceiling are so impressive! But to top that was the view from the balcony out the back door! The gorgeous “English” type garden, the pond and fountain, THE TREES with their beautiful fall colors and the gorgeous American flag in front of the waterfall!! Thank you for all of this!

Willow Winds is a beautiful, peaceful, & very relaxing place to stay. We really enjoyed our walk around the grounds and watching the playful squirrels chase each other around our deck (and also peeking in the door window!). The gardens and fountains are beautiful. Another beautiful holiday here at Willow Winds.  This is our 4th trip here.  We were actually in the same cabin on Oct 2009.  It's not just a home away from home...it has now become our HOME!  We feel so relaxed, so at home, and so, so very comfortable here.  The weather has been perfect for us.  We enjoyed the one day rain, the autumn colors are at it's peak this time.  Everywhere we go we say to each other "Wow Look"!!  We continue to love Willow Winds and will be back again.

Our second trip to Willow Winds - stayed in "Tracey's Twin" and now "Cora's Pine".  Enjoyed this year just as much as last year.  We are already looking forward to coming back next fall.

Can't say enough about how nice the cabin is, the staff, and the premises.  We are so close to town and lots to do, but yet feel very secluded.  The view from the deck and  the fountains never grows old!

We will definitely be back!!

Peaceful fountains and hammocks, Peaceful rocking chair porch time, Peaceful romantic nights with the sparkle of the fireplace.  Good Times!!!

As Naples, Fl is a beach paradise, Willow Winds is a Mountain Paradise.  We are lucy to have found this place and will continue to come back.

We wanted a quiet, relaxing getaway in the woods with maybe a trickling stream nearby. Saw the ad for this place in N.C. Travel Guide. We called at the last minute... and fortunately there were two cabins to choose from. We picked a Winner! So pleased just like home without the hassles of home.

After walking around the property, it looks like Lady Luck was looking out for us. Loved sitting out on the porch; wonderful breeze; fountain nearby (to replace the stream). Everything's so comfy, clean

We came back to Asheville to celebrate our 10th anniversary. The first time we had a week, just the two of us. But this time Hurricane Irene had other plans for us.

Our time here at Willow Winds was wonderful and I agree with all other guests' comments about the staff ~ very pleasant & helpful.

We went to the Biltmore Monday & Tuesday ~ first day the house, second day the winery...... Definitely worth the two day pass.

On Wednesday we went up to the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mt. Mitchell ~ Highly recommend this journey.

Thursday ~ our anniversary ~ we came to the decision that we would have to leave a day early to head back to Virginia Beach to prepare for the hurricane bummer!

Good news is ~ generators are readily available here and we are returning with two!

Favorites:

The Hot Tub, the Scenery, & The Privacy.....

All & all we had a wonderful week and we have discovered we enjoy taking off for the week with just the two of us!

We came here for a short getaway from our home & faily in Michigan and we've had a wonderful time.  The Willow Winds property proved to be all that it had promised and then some.  We hope to return with our kids sometime.  Asheville was a lot of fun too -- very different from what we're used to.  Our favorite eatery was Jack of the Wood's, We tried the Scotch eggs, some local brew's and the Sheppard's pie...all accompanied by some very talented bluegrass musicians.

Thanks Willow Winds for a great place to stay

Dinner at Medesto's & Downtown Asheville. The lovely floating notes of the alto sax from the street corner and dining alfresco were the best of this experience.

Saturday:

Sunday:

The Grove Park Inn. In approach right out of German fairy tale, a view of valley and distant mountains and a brunch that is an epicurean's delight.

Well, you've done it again!! This was our second visit to Sophia's Saphire, and it certainly won't be our last. This house and this city have a magical way of letting you forget about the stresses back home and just relax, find yourself and remind you and your love exactly what is important in your lives. We had a fabulous time in the drum circle downtown Friday and dinner at Jerusalem Gardens. Saturday kicked off with breakfast at Tupelo Honey, then a 3 hour canoe trip down the French Broad through the Biltmore Estate. We highly recommend this as it was 3 peaceful hours of nothing but nature and love.

Saturday night we did the Brew's Cruise which was a fun way to learn about and drink local beer, but even a better way to make some fun friends for the night. Today, Corner Kitchen and bike rides! This place really is heaven!

Sophia's Sapphire is our favorite place to get away when we want to go "off the map" and just spend time together. We fall in love more and more every day because of our special getaways and it reminds each other that this is what's important in life.

Sophia, we'll see you again soon!!

One of our best vacations ever with the Willow Winds cabin being part of what made it that way for us!

Drove the Blue Ridge Parkway one day to Blowing Rock, a long drive but breathtaking views all the way.

Went to the Folk Art Center another day ~ lots of local art, jewelry, & crafts.

Went to Billy Grahams Training Center at the Cove & if you are a follower well worth seeing the beautiful grounds, chapel, & history of Grahams life.

Did Biltmore Estate another day ~ Incredible! A lot of $$, even with the discount here, but it really something to see!

Downtown Asheville is great ~ lots of music, shopping, interesting restaurants. Tupelo Honey was a favorite ~ we went twice. The French Broad Chocolate Lounge on Lexington was another for their signature hot & cold sipping chocolates and other exquisite desserts & truffles in a very laid back atmosphere.

Went to the stadium for a ballgame downtown. The Asheville Tourists play there regularly ~ Lots of Fun!

Went to UNC Asheville and wandered the lovely grounds and botanical gardens there ~ nice.

Hiked the beautiful Blue Ridge Trail (Mountains-to-Sea) right in back of Willow Winds ~ it is beautiful!

Went to Barley's ~ some great pizza, which is cheap, delicious, and can be had by the slice. Mo's BBQ, Luella's BBQ, 12 Bones Smokehouse ~ all very good!

The daily hot tub (and we really have never been hot tub people) was sooo relaxing! One of the best parts of our stay here.

We also loved the hammock out back, playing ping pong, air hockey, basketball, etc for free down at the office.

Pat & Mary could not be nicer! And everything in this cabin is exceptional ~ we want to live here!

Thank you, and we hopefully will be back ~ We've told our friends already!

I'm sitting on my favorite rocking chair on the large covered porch ~ looking down the grass hill, past the herb garden to the lovely fish and fountain pond, surrounded by thick trees of every description including two of my favorite ~ Weeping Willows.

The grill is heating; waiting for the lamb chops I bought at the Farmers Market this morning.

I enter the living room with the high ceiling, stone fireplace, leather couches and rocking chairs; which many years ago was a one room cabin.

Sunlight filters through one of the long glass sliding doors which through the other I see my hammock waiting for me.

I'm home again; "Pat's Place" is mine.
