Seeing Live Comedy in Asheville

Asheville is famous for everything from its natural beauty to its breweries to its thriving arts community, and its comedy scene is no exception. The city is host to a variety of award-winning venues that are as renowned for their sidesplitting humor as they are for their quirkiness and originality. If you have been wondering where to see top-notch live comedy in Western North Carolina's most dynamic city, look no further.

The Magnetic Theater

Based in Asheville's vibrant, bustling River Arts District, The Magnetic Theater—featured in the New York Times and many other prominent newspapers and magazines—prides itself on being the only theater in the southeast to produce solely original work. Since its inception, the theater has been a venue for wildly inventive and uproarious comic performances. The Magnetic Theater will be relocating to a new space in Asheville soon. Updates about upcoming shows will be available on their official website, but audiences can still catch their latest comedy show in the River Arts District through the end of March.

The show begins at 8:15. It is followed by Asheville's best dueling pianos and sing along at 9:30. Audience members and comics should prepare for the unpredictable. It may be hilariously good or hilariously bad—but a fabulous time is guaranteed to be had by all. The Disclaimer's creed is "Excellence in Stagecraft, Innovation, Crowd Pleasure and Excellence." The Disclaimer Stand-up Lounge usually draws a big turnout.
