Asheville is a popular getaway destination during the winter months. The first three months of 2012 brought a warm spell with daffodils blooming mid-winter, a precursor to an early spring in the Western North Carolina Mountains.  There are many visitors from Florida and other southern locations who long to see snowfall on their visit, too.  Most winters, people in Asheville do see some modest snowfall, while outlying locations have  snowfalls on a regular basis throughout winter months.
