What says autumn more than an Asheville luxury cabin in October?
If you ask the North Carolina Chrysanthemum Society, they would probably say a basket of mums on the porch.
That’s why they hold their annual show every October at the North Carolina Arboretum.
Located near Asheville trout fishing, hiking trails and the Blue Ridge Parkway, the arboretum hosts popular plant shows throughout the year.
Most people probably think of hardy mums, the seemingly indestructible flowers that go on sale at groceries, nurseries and garden centers every fall.
The chrysanthemum show features more varieties than most people knew existed and they come in all sizes, shapes and colors. In fact, according to the group’s website, this famous flower has more than 3,000 varieties!
Entries are even evaluated by accredited chrysanthemum judges.
The plant show is free, but admission to the arboretum costs $8 per car.
