October 12 – 13, 2013

If you are thinking about staying at one of Asheville resorts, you have probably heard of the all the waterfalls in Western North Carolina.

By far, the best place to see many easily accessible cascades in one place is Dupont State Recreational Forest.

The “Tour de Falls,” being held Oct. 12 and 13, offers visitors the opportunity to see three of Dupont’s most beautiful waterfalls – Triple Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, High Falls – and Lake Julia.

This state forest is one of the top Asheville trout fishing destinations, as well as a popular hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding area.

But most of all, people come for the majestic beauty of the falls, which were featured in the movie “The Hunger Games.”

Shuttle buses will run from 9 am to 2:30 pm every 20 minutes.

Members of The Friends of Dupont Forest will be on board the shuttles and at the falls and lake to share the history of the forest and the work to preserve it.

A donation of $6 per child ages 6 to 17 and $12 for those over 18 is requested and donations are used in the preservation of the forest and falls, construction projects, maintenance and educational efforts. Cash or check only. Pets are not allowed on the buses.

Even if your stay at one of our Asheville luxury cabins doesn’t coincide with this weekend, consider Dupont State Forest for one of your day trips. You won’t be disappointed.
