This is a place that offers not only the “wild characters” of a zoo, but also a taste of the Western North Carolina mountains. If you are a fan of the outdoors, you’ll love it. Do you like learning about animal species native to Western North Carolina? Buckle up, cause the WNC Nature Center has ’em. There are 42 acres of gardens, trails, animals and native plant species. This center is also incredibly convenient due to it’s close proximity to central Asheville and our cabins. This is why you should consider visiting the NC Nature Center during your time in Asheville:
The Exhibits
The events and exhibits are fun and educational, with an emphasis on learning about the native species to this area. There are summer camps as well as field trip options for schools. They have special one-day exhibits too. Check out Deaf Awareness Day on September 17th to have exhibits curated in sign language with interpreters from the school of Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
The Location and Price is Right
Just a short drive from our cabins, visiting the WNC Nature Center is like visiting the zoo without all the fuss. Easy to get to (less than 6 miles from Willow Winds) and plenty of parking. It is open year round, 7 days a week 10 am – 5 pm. The Nature Center is only closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day and New Years Day. And at under $11 a person, this attraction won’t break the bank. What you do spend there, don’t worry because…
A Wildlife Experience You Can Feel Good About
The WNC Nature Center is a non-profit that has conservation projects that give back to WNC wildlife and cultivate community responsibility for our environment. Protecting species and caring for mother nature- now that’s a tourist attraction you can feel good about.
Asheville Cabins of Willow Winds has one, two and three bedroom cabins located in the city limits of the bustling mountain city of Asheville. This charming city offers award-winning restaurants, impressive craft breweries and southern charm to spare. While visiting, take a walk on the wild side at the WNC Nature Center! It’s convenient, inexpensive, educational, and a great excuse to get outdoors.
