Guide to Asheville and Western North Carolina

Willow Winds is ideally located adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway and just 2 miles from the intersection with Interstate 40, which makes it convenient for all Western North Carolina destinations. As indicated in the map for Willow Winds, there are also several fine attractions in the area immediately around Asheville and nearby, south of Asheville. Historic Hendersonville, Hickory Nut Gorge, beautiful Lake Lure, the Chimney Rock Park, the Flat Rock Playhouse and the Carl Sandburg Home in Flat Rock are 30-45 minutes away.

Willow Winds is a perfect location from which to explore the many quaint and lovely towns of Western North Carolina. You will enjoy the shops of Weaverville and the music festival of Brevard.

Only 35 miles away is Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain east of the Mississippi. Nearby is the Pisgah National Forest with such attractions as Looking Glass Falls, Pisgah Fish Hatchery, Sliding Rock, and the Cradle of Forestry.

In Asheville are the Western North Carolina Nature Center, and the Thomas Wolfe Memorial. Just east of Asheville is the Folk Art Center.
