Ask a dozen different people why they love the LEAF Festival and you will likely receive a dozen different answers.

One of the best ways to enjoy this biannual event is to stay in Asheville resort cabins near the festival grounds. Willow Winds provides easy access – just 10 minutes down Interstate 40 or U.S. Highway 70. The music festival happens twice each year – the third full weekend in May and the third full weekend in October.

This fall’s festival takes place Oct. 17-20. This fall’s headliners will include Dr. John, Zap Mama, Acoustic Syndicate and Vieuz Farka Toure. Families are drawn to the kid friendly activities and safe atmosphere. Teenagers usually line up for the zip-line that drops them into the lake,tn_LKVFacePaintFancyHM_copy while younger children will enjoy face-painting, a hands-on instrument museum and crafts tables.     tn_LakePaddleboardGalsHM_copyOutdoorsy types love to canoe around the lake or follow a trail before listening to their favorite bands. Everyone loves the setting at Camp Rockmont, surrounded by beautiful mountains on nicely manicured grounds. Best of all, the festival proceeds benefit LEAF’s charity programs, LEAF in the Schools and Streets and LEAF International. The former provides cultural programming for local schools, while the latter helps disadvantaged youth in other nations use their local arts and music to make a living.
