The Fall Foliage is Here. It is beautiful and getting more scenic every day. The North Carolina State parks are open and you can drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. These Photos were taken on October 4th.
Do not be discouraged by all the headlines about the Federal Government shutdown. The Asheville Cabins are surrounded by an abundance of State Parks that are open for business.
To the North is Mount Mitchell State Park, the highest point East of the Mississippi .
There is plenty of changing foliage to see from overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway on the Road to Mount Mitchell. An added bonus is that traffic is lighter than ever before, because people mistakenly think the Parkway is closed. These photos were taken yesterday.

To the South is Dupont State Park, which has some of the most beautiful waterfalls anywhere. Again, traffic and lines are quite light, the temperatures are moderate, so it is an ideal time to visit.
