The Willow Winds property falls within city limits, so downtown Asheville is only a short drive away. But when you’re standing on Pond View, in front of a cabin, all you can hear are the birds chirping and the stream flowing by. The city seems like a million miles away. While the grounds can inspire a healthy hike along a scenic trail or a restful doze in one of the hammocks, it’s the luxury cabins that get all the deserved attention. Twenty-five cabins dot the 40-acre site, and each one is a sparkling diamond in the rough outdoors. Which one do you want? Let’s take a look at the Pond View Cabins. Pond View Cabins Chris’ Cabin is the tiniest and only rustic cabin on the property. Built in the 19th century and once used by settlers and fur traders, this one-bedroom cabin features an oversized stone fireplace and hand-hewn log walls. But don’t worry; it’s been updated to include all the comforts of the 21st century. Dad’s Digs and Mom’s Manor are identical twins in their floor plan, but feature different interior paint color. Both romantic cabins have two bedrooms, two baths and a terrific view overlooking the trout pond. The great room in each has a cathedral ceiling and a rock fireplace. Like every cabin at Willow Winds, each has a private hot tub. The great room is spacious enough to accommodate its large leather furniture and a dining room set. This luxury cabin sits in the heart of Willow Winds, so it’s easily accessible for everyone. [caption id="attachment_1310" align="aligncenter" width="496"]Pat's Place Living Room Pat's Place Living Room[/caption] Pat’s Place is one of the original log cabins on the property. It features hand-hewn log walls in the great room, but a modern addition for the bedrooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a wide porch make it seem larger than its 2500 square feet. The hot tub sits on a separate deck off the master bedroom. [caption id="attachment_1307" align="alignright" width="300"]Jackie's Gem Jackie's Gem[/caption] Don’s Den and Jackie’s Gem share the same octagonal, two-story floor plan. The shape and the stone exterior really set them apart. Each has a wide wrap-around porch, allowing you to take in the gorgeous mountain setting. Three bedrooms and two baths fit snugly in each cabin, making it the perfect getaway. If you can’t decide among these Asheville cabins, stay tuned; we’ll be reviewing all 25 cabins in this series.
