Fall Leaves

The mountains here in North Carolina are too gorgeous right now to NOT be outside. One of the most popular questions here at the Asheville Cabins office is "where should I hike?" Its a good question; if this area is known for anything, it's for having some of the most stunning hikes on the east coast. You have the Blue Ridge Mountains tracing the clouds with  ridge lines that seem designed by an artist, and waterfalls that break up the quiet of the woods in a spectacular way.  It's a photo opportunity that shouldn't be missed, and here are some spots to grab the best shots.

Craggy Gardens:

Craggy Pinnacle Trail is a 1.5 mile roundtrip hike that offers exceptional panoramic views. Follow the Blue Ridge Parkway to Milepost 364 for the parking area, and be prepared to take LOTS of photos.

Mt. Mitchell:

Mt. Mitchell boasts the honor of being the highest peak in mainland Eastern North America. At an elevation of  6,683 feet, there's no shortage of gorgeous views. Be prepared though, at that altitude the temperature drops significantly, so bring a coat! Only a hour and half drive from our location.

Dupont State Forest:

Only 50 minutes from our cabins, explore multiple waterfalls all a short hike of each other. Triple Falls offers the grandeur of waterfalls with a non-strenuous hike to visit each one. You'll love the beauty of the falls right now - in warmer months you can even relax in the cool pool at the bottom of the smaller falls. The ease of these hikes, and the proximity to our cabins make them a standout!

Max Patch:

Under a hour and half drive away, this view is a local favorite. There are two different loops to hike, both easy. One is 1.4 miles, and offers a beautiful view from the summit, while the longer 2.4 loop circles the summit of the mountain. The views are outstanding at the summit, so don't forget your camera and a snack!

Visit the Cradle of Forestry, it is absolutely beautiful this time of year!

At Asheville Cabins, you are close to all the local events, while still in the luxury, serenity and comfort of a cabin home. With wood-burning fireplaces and relaxing hot tubs, you may not want to leave your cabin at all!

This is it. This is the season we look forward to year round. While every season offers something special in Asheville, Fall is in a whole other league. There is a crispness to the air, and a warmth to the people (if we may say so ourselves) that means that a gorgeous time of year is upon us. With Autumn in Asheville, you not only get a change in the environmental aesthetic, but you have lots of opportunities for activities and events, and mother nature is (usually) on your side. While we are never sure when the leaf change will be in Asheville, chances are good that you would be only a short drive - thanks to our proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway - to a spot of gorgeous color.

Fall 2017

Why settle for the four walls of a hotel room when visiting Asheville, when you can experience the beauty of the outdoors in your backyard? At Asheville Cabins, you aren't just staying close to Asheville, you are within the city limits. We are only a 15 minute drive to downtown Asheville, and 7 minutes to Biltmore - but it's not our proximity to the city center that sets us apart: we are located on a 40-acre woodland garden, situated close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and our property is home to wildlife you won't find at a hotel.
