The mountains here in North Carolina are too gorgeous right now to NOT be outside. One of the most popular questions here at the Asheville Cabins office is "where should I hike?" Its a good question; if this area is known for anything, it's for having some of the most stunning hikes on the east coast. You have the Blue Ridge Mountains tracing the clouds with ridge lines that seem designed by an artist, and waterfalls that break up the quiet of the woods in a spectacular way. It's a photo opportunity that shouldn't be missed, and here are some spots to grab the best shots.
Craggy Pinnacle Trail is a 1.5 mile roundtrip hike that offers exceptional panoramic views. Follow the Blue Ridge Parkway to Milepost 364 for the parking area, and be prepared to take LOTS of photos.
Mt. Mitchell boasts the honor of being the highest peak in mainland Eastern North America. At an elevation of 6,683 feet, there's no shortage of gorgeous views. Be prepared though, at that altitude the temperature drops significantly, so bring a coat! Only a hour and half drive from our location.
Dupont State Forest:
Only 50 minutes from our cabins, explore multiple waterfalls all a short hike of each other. Triple Falls offers the grandeur of waterfalls with a non-strenuous hike to visit each one. You'll love the beauty of the falls right now - in warmer months you can even relax in the cool pool at the bottom of the smaller falls. The ease of these hikes, and the proximity to our cabins make them a standout!
Under a hour and half drive away, this view is a local favorite. There are two different loops to hike, both easy. One is 1.4 miles, and offers a beautiful view from the summit, while the longer 2.4 loop circles the summit of the mountain. The views are outstanding at the summit, so don't forget your camera and a snack!

This is it. This is the season we look forward to year round. While every season offers something special in Asheville, Fall is in a whole other league. There is a crispness to the air, and a warmth to the people (if we may say so ourselves) that means that a gorgeous time of year is upon us. With Autumn in Asheville, you not only get a change in the environmental aesthetic, but you have lots of opportunities for activities and events, and mother nature is (usually) on your side. While we are never sure when the leaf change will be in Asheville, chances are good that you would be only a short drive - thanks to our proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway - to a spot of gorgeous color.
We aren't giving up on summer! The sun is shining and we are glad to offer new specials to make visiting Asheville all the more affordable.
We love the sound of families and children playing .
When we had a small child we once drove up the scenic California coastline. We tried to stay in some bed and breakfasts. However, they did not take families with small children. When we built our vacation rental resort in Asheville NC years later, we were determined to make it friendly to families with children. Our favorite events are family reunions. We also like to host wedding parties. There is an inexpensive event center a half a mile away that is ideal for having weddings.
We have a stocked trout pond where many children have caught their first fish. We have both an upper and lower playground as well as a covered play porch adjacent to our office. The lower playground even has a water wars facility where adults as well as children can launch water balloons at each other. We provide the balloons.
Please book in advance for these group event reservations, as they generally require several of our vacation cabins.
