Cool Off With These Downtown Asheville Summer Events

These cool summer events are a great reason to visit downtown Asheville. Check it out this Summer (and see what next for Fall)!

Downtown After 5

Every 3rd Friday of the month from May to September. This street festival is a favorite with good reason: it’s recurring (yay), free (double yay), and there is live music, beer/wine, and Asheville’s best food trucks in attendance.

Shindig on the Green

Celebrating it’s 53rd season! This is a summer Saturday tradition. Western North Carolina’s best cloggers, fiddlers, and Appalachian musicians take to the stage to celebrate the culture and music of our area. Takes place downtown at Pack’s Square Park, and is also free. Starts around 7 pm and goes until late.

LaZoom Brewery Tours

While this isn’t really an event, it is a great way to explore not only Asheville history, but our local brews. LaZoom is a comedy bus tour complete with live skits, kooky characters, and interesting information about our small mountain city. Stops depend on the type of tour, but many include our best local breweries. Tours take place daily, and you can reserve online.

LEAF Downtown Festival

Celebrating it’s 5th year! August 2 and 3rd of this year, head on downtown to the sister festival of the popular Black Mountain music festival. With several stages set up downtown, you can hear live music, take dance classes, watch artists craft their goods, and take in the culinary treasures of Asheville. Also, it’s (you guessed it) free!

And coming this Fall …

Chow Chow Festival

The Chow Chow Festival is a new festival to Asheville, and we couldn’t be more excited. September 12 – 15: This is a culinary celebration of our Appalachian roots, and an expression of the exciting new direction Asheville food is heading. The hype is real with this festival, so purchase tickets early!

Garlic Festival

October 5, 2019. This is a small, unassuming little festival that packs big flavor. Garlic fanatics need to plan for this one. Not only is it a great festival with local garlicky goods, but October is beautiful in Asheville!

Brewgrass Festival

October 5th at the Salvage Station, a great event space. Sample beers from 40+ breweries while getting down to some fantastic bluegrass music. This event is 21 and older, and ticketed – so don’t delay.

Asheville Cabins of Willow Winds offers one, two and three bedroom cabins, located in the Asheville city limits. We are ideally located to where you are only 5 miles from all the downtown summer events. Be warned though, with a property like ours you may not want to venture downtown at all!
