First Annual: Sneak Peek of Two of Asheville’s New Festivals.

Downtown Asheville

There are a couple of festivals/special events that are new this year. Will these festivals be the next big thing in Asheville events? Here’s a sneak peek of two of Asheville’s new festivals.

Connect Beyond Festival – April 5 – 7, 2019

This is an exciting festival, new for 2019! This festival features the best and most innovative in music, films and the arts. However, the goal here is not just entertainment. This festival aims to connect participants in important conversations about our community and what it means to be a part of this human race. Expect discussion panels with experts in their field and enlightening conversations about everything from equality to the impact of music on a community.

Chow Chow Culinary Festival – September 12 – 15, 2019

So many samples, so little time…

Are you a serious foodie? If so, this might be the best new festival to hit Asheville in a while. The Chow Chow Culinary Festival aims to celebrate the most delicious in Southern cuisine. Don’t expect just biscuits and gravy, though. If the last couple of years in the Asheville restaurant scene has proven anything, it’s that there is a lot more to Southern cookin’ in Asheville than meets the eye. Sustainable, local ingredients and unique flavors take the spotlight. The best culinary artists in the Southeast show off their skills with demonstrations, samples, and discussions on what makes a creative Southern table. Details are still sparse, but we know it will take place at Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville. Tickets should go on sale in March.

There’s always something exciting cooking in Asheville. Our “small” mountain city is on the map now. Asheville has a reputation for warmth and hospitality indicative of the south, but with a cultural scene that rivals that of a metropolis. We hope you’ll visit Asheville for it’s charm, and stay a while for all the fun activities.
