Isn’t it Romantic? Asheville Activities to Relax and Unwind this Weekend.

Love is in the air, and this weekend will be a perfect way to show the person you love how much they mean to you. Here are Asheville activities to relax and unwind this special weekend.

Stroll through Biltmore and Visit the Downton Abbey Exhibit

The Biltmore Estate is Asheville main attraction for good reason: this is the nation’s largest privately-owned home, and is a true memento of the long-past Gilded Age of decadence. The new exhibit celebrates a similar, albeit fictional, home from the popular Downton Abbey TV series. The exhibit is interactive and educational, and is neat whether you are familiar with the show or not — but if you are then this is a MUST DO. Afterwards, visit the Biltmore Village area right outside of the estate – no ticket necessary. This historic area is a romantic step back in time, with cobblestone sidewalks and cozy shops. Visit Well-Bred Bakery for a large eclair to share!

Visit French Broad Chocolates

Woman showing her wines

While we are talking sweet, a visit to Asheville isn’t complete without a stop at French Broad Chocolates. Their downtown lounge offers comfortable booths to relax in while sampling the best chocolate (we think in the world, but that’s just our take). Try the Liquid Truffle – a melted chocolate and heavy cream shot that is the ultimate treat for a chocolate lover. Yelp recently named Asheville the number one destination in 2020 for food lovers, and French Broad was their must-try pick. We couldn’t agree more!

Winter Walk through the NC Arboretum

The NC Arboretum takes on a peaceful ambiance this time of year, with well-maintained paths and plenty of seating for taking a break and appreciating the moment with someone you love. There is just a small parking fee, and it’s only 7 miles from our cabins, so this adventure is inexpensive, convenient, and truly romantic.

Take it slow in a Spa

There is no shortage of fantastic spas in the Asheville area, so consider a massage or general pampering during your trip with a visit to SpaTheology in downtown Asheville. This is a great spot to unwind and treat yourself.

Try Something Wild

These options seem a little mainstream? Well maybe visit Axeville Throwing Club and learn to throw axes while enjoying Asheville brews. This is sure to be a Valentines experience you won’t forget. This isn’t just for the couples either, bring your friends and let off some steam!

Relax in the cabin and order in!

At Asheville Cabins of Willow Winds, our hope is always that you’ll find our location in the city convenient for all of the activities above. We also hope that as soon as you step into the cabin, you’ll be happy right where you are! If staying in with a loved one is your ideal vacay, then we recommend relaxing in front of the wood-burning fireplace or in the soothing hot tub. Arrange a Romance Package with us, and a vase of roses will be waiting in the cabin upon arrival, with a $50 gift certificate to an area restaurant. We are only 3 minutes from the closest grocery store, so you won’t be too far from essentials. We stock up your porch with firewood, and the cabin with paper products. For the true “staying in” experience, order a romantic meal from Takeoutcentral.com. They deliver from over 50 local restaurants, many of them our most acclaimed downtown spots.

We are located in the Asheville city limits, only 5 miles from downtown Asheville and 3 miles to Biltmore. The cabins are situated in a woodland garden, close to hiking and fishing (in our stocked trout pond on site, catch and release or keep up to 5 per day!) Treat your loved ones — and yourself. Relax and unwind this weekend!
