Cool it! There’s some beautiful spots in Western North Carolina close to Asheville that are perfect for cooling off in the summer heat. Here are some of the best swimming holes near Asheville. *Please remember to exercise caution when navigating falls and swimming. Wear a life jacket!
Dupont State Forest
Triple Falls in beautiful Dupont State Forest
Hooker Falls is the best places to dip your toes, in our humble opinion. The waterfalls at Dupont are stunning, and only a 45 minute drive from our cabins. You really do get your time’s worth as well; there are three waterfalls in quick succession of each other. However, Hooker Falls is your best bet for swimming, as the pool at the bottom is calm and deep.
Courthouse Falls
Easy hike, just under a mile round trip that leads to a 40 foot waterfall. The pool at the bottom is perfect for a cooling dip, but please be cautious around the falls; it is not recommended to attempt and climb or jump off the waterfall. Just relax and enjoy the view from the bottom!
Coontree
Coontree also has river access where you can fish or swim. There is a 15ft rock you can jump off of as well into the river. This spot is only 28 miles from our cabins, so it’s a short day trip that allows for plenty of time to explore Asheville’s nightlife after.
Skinny Dip Falls
This moderate, short hike takes you to a waterfall and swimming hole on the Yellowstone Prong of the Big East Fork of the Pigeon River. This summer swimming destination would make the start of a more strenuous trek into Graveyard Fields.
Azalea Park swimming hole
Located close to the WNC Nature Center along the French Broad River. Only 10 mins from your cabin! The cool river water is perfect for the whole family to jump in and enjoy.
