Top 9 Attractions to See Along the Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway is beaming with scenic viewpoints and attractions, making for plenty of opportunities to stop along the way and take it all in. But where are the best places to stop? Linn Cove Viaduct – Milepost 304.6

Maybe the most photographed spot along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Linn Cove Viaduct is a 1,000+ foot long S-curve considered an engineering marvel. Built into the side of a mountain, its contrast with the natural landscape is a showstopper for sure.

Grandfather Mountain – Milepost 316.4

The Grandfather Mountain nature preserve area offers a nice collection of activities including the swinging bridge, picnic spots, hiking trails, and a nature museum.

Linville Falls – Milepost 316.4

Probably the most photographed waterfall in North Carolina, Linville Falls is the perfect stop to get in a hike, take in vista views, and see a rushing waterfall. The waterfall drops nearly 100 feet into the Linville Gorge with staggering cliffs towering over the river. There are five different vantage points that can all be accessed via a 4-mile hike.

The Orchard at Altapass – Milepost 328.3

Fun for the entire family, The Orchard at Altapass is one of the top attractions along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Sample some homemade ice cream and fudge, pick some apples from the orchard, hop on a hayride, and shop the general store for locally made products.

Craggy Gardens – Milepost 364

Craggy Gardens not only boasts some of the views along its high-elevation summits, but it also hosts a stunning collection of rhododendrons that burst with life and color every June.

Folk Art Center – Milepost 382

Visit the Folk Art Center to learn more about the Appalachian arts and crafts through an exhibit of traditional and contemporary arts and crafts, plus visitors are able to see daily craft demonstrations from March through December.

Chimney Rock – Milepost 385

Climb to the top of the iconic Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park. Walk the nearly 500 steps of the designated trail to reach the rock’s summit, where you will be rewarded with stunning vista views.

The Biltmore – Milepost 388.8

The Biltmore Estate is one of the most iconic landmarks in North Carolina and is a must-stop along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Or if you just want to make a day trip out of it, the Biltmore is only five minutes from Asheville Cabin of Willow Winds!
