Scenic Dillsboro is the setting for the 9th annual Western North Carolina Pottery Festival on November 2nd. A juried event showcasing more than 40 potters who will display and sell their wares and share a wealth of knowledge through demonstrations that will include throwing, wood-firing, raku-firing and horsehair firing. Hours are 10am to 4pm. Admission is only $3 per person and includes a raffle ticket, kids under 12 are free!
The fun will begin with the WNC Clay Olympics on November 1st with the firing of a wood-fired kiln. The twenty Contestants in the Clay Olympics will be judged on Largest cylinder out of five pounds clay; Widest bowl out of five pounds clay; and a Blind-folded two-pound, two-minute throwing contest.
