With a nip in the air, the mountains surrounding Asheville are peaceful and beautiful. This is a special time of year to visit, but you might not want to spend ALL your time outdoors. After a brisk hike, warm up at one of Asheville’s famous breweries! Here are a few of the breweries (in no particular order) that our guests enjoy while visiting Asheville. Understand this list could vary from others, at the end of the day it comes down to which one you can see yourself having a cold one at.
Catawba Brewing Company: Kicking things off with Catawba Brewing, located downtown on the South Slope, and in the Biltmore Village area. Both locations, you can relax in their taproom and have one of their 9 year-round beers.
Twin Leaf Brewing : This small brewery is a perfect example of an
New Belgium Brewing: This and Sierra Nevada are the big-hitters here in Asheville. They are known through out the US for their consitently delicious and unpretentious brews. Their brewery tours are extensive and educational, and some of the best food trucks are parked right outside (view schedule here).
Asheville Pizza and Brewing: This brewery has three locations in Asheville. Asheville Brewing is one of those places that just make Asheville what it is. From the far out decorations to having the ability to watch a move with a pizza and beer you will feel right at home. They rotate movies from new releases to classics, so there is a movie for everyone. The Ninja Porter is a local favorite!
Green Man Brewery : Green Man is an Asheville legend in the beer scene. Since 1997, they have supplied WNC (and now much of the country thanks to distribution) with English style ales that are consistently delicious, but not predictable, and they keep new things on tap often. Their new taproom is several stories, and is a great place to pop in and get out of the cold!
Wicked Weed : Probably the brewery we get asked about the most, Wicked Weed has made a name for itself with not only great tasting brews, but a fantastic taproom with food that goes way beyond bar snacks. If you must be outside, their front patio has gas fire pits too!
Sierra Nevada Brewery : The original Sierra Nevada is located in Chico, CA. However, the brewery’s location and taproom in Asheville has a personality and fanbase all it’s own. As far as the breweries go, you will be hard-pressed to find a more idyllic location than Sierra Nevada. The brewery is nestled in Mills River, with a large green space to enjoy if the weather allows. If the patio is closed though, have no worries – the taproom itself is a large, yet warm and inviting space decorated in a European pub style.
Bhramari Brewing : Located downtown, Bhramari is a relatively new brewery on the Asheville scene. In a short time, though, they have grown a loyal following of fans who have been won over by the cozy taproom, exquisite culinary flair with the food menu, and a large and varied tap list. They aren’t afraid to play with flavors, and this shows with their many limited-time only brews.
