We have been enjoying some warmer weather lately, which brings to mind all of the great activities and events that the warmer months bring Asheville. While all seasons in Asheville offer their own perks, spring/summer opens up a world of opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast, concert-goer and (like a lot of us here at Willow Winds)the hammock/porch relaxer.
Here is a list of activities to not miss during your stay:
With warmer weather, you can enjoy local raftng and tubing just a short drive from Willow Winds property. Blue Heron Whitewater, located in Marshall NC, is a great option for rafting, offering several packages and trip options. You can book half day trips, whole day trips (with lunch) and even a calm day trip. Our guests who have visited Blue Heron have raved about them! Open for booking now. Zen Tubing opens for the season in May, and has two convenient locations in South Asheville and Midtown Asheville. Tubing is a great, family-friendly activity that is fun for everyone!
Don’t let another vacation go by without stepping outside of your comfort zone…both Navitat and the Asheville Adventure Center offer treetop excitement close to Asheville! Either option is a great choice, so check out the websites to see which would be the best fit for your group.
Spring Outdoor Events
Some festivals and events to look forward to:
Carolina Mountain Cheese Fest takes place Sunday, Apr 29th 2018 at Highland Brewing. This is a rain or shine event, and is a must for any dairy fiend or lover of locally made food!
Spring Herb Festival at the WNC Farmer’s Market will take place on May 4 – 6th 2018. The is the largest herb festival in the Southeast, and over 50 businesses will attend to sell their fresh herbs and homemade crafts.
The Chihuly Exhibit at Biltmore takes place May 17th – Oct 7th 2018, and is an outdoor/indoor exhibit of the renowned glass artist’s breathtaking works. Artfully arranged, and thoughtfully lighted, these sculptures will be available to be seen during the evening with Evening Chihuly tickets (a rare after 5pm tour) with advanced reservations.
Don’t forget the Drum Circle, every Friday in Pritchard Park, downtown Asheville! This is one of those things that have to be seen to be believed.
Relaxing on our property
If you prefer to relax at home instead of heading out, you will find all the comforts at your Willow Winds cabin. We have hammocks next to each cabin, as well as back decks complete with electric grill and hot tubs. You don’t have to leave to experience the beauty of the WNC mountains with our fully-stocked trout pond and trail access. There are also two playgrounds, in the summer our water balloon launching station opens up!
