Every year is a guessing game. What week will the leaves hit their peak color brilliancy? This year, we’ve been given a late show, but the colors are slow to fade–meaning we will get a longer than usual display into November.
Elevations around 3000 feet are still seeing some beautiful colors, unusual for this late in the leaf season. Those locations below 3000 ft (downtown Asheville and Asheville Cabins of Willow Winds, for example) are just now starting to display the oranges and reds that we look forward to every year, and should only get more beautiful in the coming days.
A couple of local places to view these leaves at peak:
* The NC Arboretum
*Chimney Rock Park
*The grounds of the Biltmore Estate
*The lower elevations of the Blue Ridge Parkway
*Your cabin porch at Willow Winds!
