From the blog

We came here for a short getaway from our home & faily in Michigan and we’ve had a wonderful time. The Willow Winds property proved to be all that it had promised and then some. We hope to return with our kids sometime. Asheville was a lot of fun too — very different from what we’re used to. Our favorite eatery was Jack of the Wood’s, We tried the Scotch eggs, some local brew’s and the Sheppard’s pie…all accompanied by some very talented bluegrass musicians.

Thanks Willow Winds for a great place to stay

Why Asheville should be your cycling destination for 2019.

Picture this: you’ve arrived to Asheville, a beautiful natural landscape that offers a perfect environment for cycling. That’s what you are here for, and you are pumped. You’ve got your gear, you’re ready to explore what these roads and trails have to offer…but first you’ve got to figure out what the heck to do with your gear in your hotel room.

You’d rather just be thinking about this:

At Asheville Cabins of Willow Winds, you have an entire cabin to keep your gear situated, and plenty of stretching room after a big ride. You can sooth sore muscles by our seasonal wood-burning fireplaces, or in your own hot tub on your deck, overlooking our Woodland garden setting. We are located just a fifteen minute drive to downtown, and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway – and since we have 25 cabins on our property, all the members of a large cycling group can enjoy the amenities of their own cabin.

Brevard cycling offers brisk winter rides and milder temperatures in the summer, and trails for all types of cyclists. Is mountain biking more your style? Dupont State Forest is easily accessible and offers some of the best trails in the state.

Is road cycling more your thing? The Blue Ridge Parkway allows for a ride with phenomenal views.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than two miles away from our cabins, so we have been honored to have many traveling cyclists stay with us. Everyone has their favorite trails, favorite difficulty level and terrain, and favorite place in Asheville to relax afterwards! What better way to explore our beautiful city than to bike its beautiful forests by day, stop by your luxury cabin to freshen up, then head downtown to experience the one-of-a-kind Asheville restaurant and brewery scene?

Not too far from our cabins (about a 15 minute drive) is the NC Arboretum. Some of the trails here aren’t going to be a challenge for a more adventurous biker,  as many of the bike paths are ideal for a family or someone looking for a relaxing ride – but they have a couple of steep trails that might just surprise the mountain bikers.

Asheville Cabins of Willow Winds is open year round, with something special for every season and interest. Call us at (800)235-2474 for more info about how we can become your new go-to vacation spot in Asheville, NC.

I’m sitting on my favorite rocking chair on the large covered porch ~ looking down the grass hill, past the herb garden to the lovely fish and fountain pond, surrounded by thick trees of every description including two of my favorite ~ Weeping Willows.

The grill is heating; waiting for the lamb chops I bought at the Farmers Market this morning.

I enter the living room with the high ceiling, stone fireplace, leather couches and rocking chairs; which many years ago was a one room cabin.

Sunlight filters through one of the long glass sliding doors which through the other I see my hammock waiting for me.

I’m home again; “Pat’s Place” is mine.
